11th Street utility and roadway improvement project
This project began in October and will include the installation of water, wastewater, reclaimed water lines and roadway improvements. The contractor is Masci Construction. Accomodations have been made for the residents that live in the area of this project but there should be little impact to traffic other than that.
Tivoli Drive and Wheeling Avenue pump station
Construction began in October on a stormwater project designed to alleviate flooding issues in this area. This project is approximately 40 percent complete. Periodic lane closures, not lasting more than two hours at a time should be expected. The contractor for this project is McMahan Construction.
We urge motorists to drive with extreme caution in these areas: Slow for the Cone Zone! The posted speed limit in the construction sites is 25 miles per hour. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is present to monitor traffic. Speeding fines are doubled in a construction zone where workers are present. The Florida Highway Patrol offers these tips for driving safely in a work zone: expect the unexpected, slow down, don't tailgate, pay attention to signage, obey road crew flaggers, stay alert and minimize distractions, schedule plenty of time for traveling to your destination, be patient and stay calm. Vandalism on the project site will not be tolerated. The contractor will prosecute violators.
If you have questions or concerns about these projects, call the City's Public Works Department, (386) 878-8996 or (386) 878-8965.
