Fire Chief William M. (Bill) Godfrey
William M. (Bill) Godfrey is a 23-year fire service veteran and is the Fire Chief of the City of Deltona Fire Department. Chief Godfrey first experienced the fire service at age 13 when he became an Explorer and began his career at age 17 as a Volunteer Firefighter for Juno Fire Control District #3, which became Palm Beach County Fire Rescue after consolidation. Having served in numerous fire department and EMS roles over his 23 year career, Chief Godfrey is a decorated and award winning fire service officer, an expert in incident command and simulation training, published author, researcher, inventor, and a frequent lecturer at National fire service conferences. Chief Godfrey is also a Florida Paramedic and Fire Service Instructor III with an Associate’s degree in EMS Management, Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. In addition to his numerous fire service roles, Chief Godfrey has also served as a consultant to other fire departments and the Department of Homeland Security and is a planning manager for Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 4 (US&R TF-4).
Deputy Chief Robert L. Rogers
Deputy Chief Rogers began his fire service career 1975 with the Killarney Fire District. After working for 12 years with the Orange County Fire Rescue Division, he came to Deltona as the Assistant Chief in 1987. After 7 years in that position, Robert became Fire Chief in 1994 and held that position until 2001. He is a state-certified Firefighter, EMT and Fire Officer. He holds a degree in Fire Technology, has attended the National Fire Academy and the Emergency Management Institute in Emmetsburg, Maryland and is a graduate of the prestigious four year Executive Fire Officer program. Robert’s current duties include Emergency Management coordination for the City and special projects.
Division Chief David M. Faer
Division Chief David M. Faer started in the fire service as a Deltona Fire District volunteer in 1980 and in 1981 began his service in Deltona as a career firefighter. He has worked his way through the ranks until his promotion to Captain in 1987. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, and Fire Officer I & II. He holds a degree in Fire Science and is a graduate of the prestigious four-year Executive Fire Officer Program held at the National Fire Academy in Emmetsburg Maryland. Dave has been actively involved in the education of adults and children in fire safety. In 2006 David transferred from Fire Operations as an Operations Division Chief; to the Division Chief of Communications, Public Education & Information. His duties include Fire & Life Safety Education, Fire Department Public Information Officer & City of Deltona’s Communication & Dispatch Division.
Division Chief Kevin Homan
Division Chief Kevin Homan is a 25-year fire service veteran, starting his career in Carthage, N.Y. He was hired as one of Deltona’s first firefighter/Paramedics in 1986. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, and Fire Officer. He holds certifications as an ACLS/BLS instructor and is certified in rope rescue and rescue diving. Kevin is a member of the Knights of Columbus and was voted Firefighter of the Year by them, as well as the American Legion for 1992-93. His daily duties as Shift Commander for C-shift include the supervision of 4 stations and 23 personnel. He is also the department’s Supply Officer.
Division Chief Frank “Bill” Snyder
Division Chief Frank “Bill” Snyder is a 19-year veteran of the fire service, hired as a firefighter in 1986. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Officer, Inspector, and Instructor. Bill holds an Associate of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services and has served as a volunteer with the Orange City Fire Department and worked as Orange City Fire Chief for four years. Bill is currently in his first year of the prestigious four-year Executive Fire Officer program. Bill has been involved in Little League both in Deltona and Orange City.
Division Chief Chris Nabicht
Division Chief Chris Nabicht is a 20-year fire service veteran who began his service in Deltona as a volunteer. He was hired in 1980 as a firefighter and was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1988. Chris is a certified Firefighter, EMT, Fire Officer, Instructor, Municipal and School Inspector, Investigator, and Law Enforcement Officer. He holds a degree in Fire Science and has been established as an expert by the courts in the area of fire investigation. Chris also completed the National Fire Academy Fire/Arson Investigating course. His duties include fire investigations, inspections, plans reviews, quality control of fire incident reporting, and maintaining the data files in the Computer Aided Dispatch system.
Division Chief Robert J. Staples
Division Chief Robert J. Staples started his emergency medical services career in 1976 and fire service career in 1991. Bob is a certified Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Officer I and II and Fire Service Instructor III. Bob holds an Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management and a Master’s degree in Management and Administration of Educational Programs. Bob originally worked for the Deltona Fire District from 1991 – 1997 and served as the department’s Emergency Medical Services Coordinator from 1992 – 1995. He received the Christopher Columbus Community Service Award in 1993. During his absence from the City, Bob was the Program Manager for the EMS Program at Daytona Beach Community College until his return to Deltona in 2003. His duties include the coordination of department’s EMS program including administration, budgeting, infection control program, employee health, quality assurance, community training, and instruction of departmental personnel.
Division Chief Steven M. Gillespie
Division Chief Steven Gillespie started in the Fire service in 1992 and joined the department as the Division Chief of Training & Safety in August of 2006. He is a state-certified Firefighter, Instructor, Inspector and Paramedic. He holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science Technology, Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership, and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Executive Fire Service Leadership. Prior to joining the Deltona Fire Department, Steve served with the Marion County and Pembroke Pines Fire Departments. While working for the Pembroke Pines Fire Department, Steve was also employed with the Broward Fire Academy, serving as a Lead Instructor in the Minimum Standards Recruit Training Program and was the Academies Program Coordinator for Flashover Awareness Training. His duties include coordinating all training and instruction of departmental personnel. In addition, Steve represents the department on the cities Safety Committee.
