Seasonal Emergency InformationWhen drier conditions and hard freezes occur in the area, it increases the probability for brush and forest fires. The City of Deltona encourages residents to be careful in these and all times of the year. The Fire Department has instituted a ban on the burning of all yard trash and the only permitted burning will be allowed after authorization is obtained from the Division of Forestry for major land clearing operations. Residents living on larger tracts of land are encouraged to establish and maintain a buffer area clear of all vegetation that is a minimum of 30 feet around all structures. The probability of the Fire Department preventing a brush fire from damaging your structure is greatly improved if there is a 30-foot buffer. Please be extremely careful when discarding cigarettes or other lighted material as well as cooking material. If you and your family would like additional information on how to best protect yourselves and prevent brush and forest fires, contact the Fire Department at (386) 860-7177. |
