FLOOD PRONE AREAS The areas shown in pink on this map are the areas that have been identified by FEMA as areas with the potential for flooding during a 100 year storm event. The map is a compilation of the six(6) Flood Insurance Rate Maps, or FIRM's that cover the City of Deltona. The effective date of the FIRM panels is April 15, 2002.Per the Flood Insurance Rate Maps there has been no Base Flood Elevations (BFE) established by FEMA. The Base Flood Elevation is the height above mean sea level that the floodwaters could rise to.Per federal law, if your home is in one of these areas you are required to carry flood insurance.
The areas shown in pink on this map are the areas that have been identified by a comprehensive flood study of the City as areas with the potential for flooding during a 100 year storm event. The 2004 Flood Study has been approved by FEMA, however, FEMA has no immediate plans to reprint the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) at this time due to funding constraints. In many cases the areas shown are similar to those areas subject to flooding in the Flood Insurance Rate Maps, however, there are many differences, due mainly to increased accuracy and better science. In most of the areas shown as having flooding potential a Base Flood Elevation (BFE) has been established, The BFE is the elevation above sea level to which flood water could rise.
