Unified Land Development Code

The City of Deltona has retained Duncan Associates (the consultant) to assist in preparing a unified Land Development Code (LDC) to regulate land development in the respective jurisdictions.

A state-of-the-art Land Development Code is more than just a compilation of sections from the zoning and subdivision ordinances. Rather a LDC should have the following characteristics:

  • A single document rather than multiple, sometimes conflicting ordinances
  • A uniform set of consistent definitions
  • Integrated procedures that detail the sequence of development approvals
  • A coordinated system for review and enforcement

The process of consolidating the zoning and subdivision ordinances will reveal inconsistencies and duplication that can be eliminated. The LDC will be a total regulatory package that is greater than the sum of its parts.
