At its February 4, 2008 Regular Meeting, the Deltona City Commission approved the creation of a Local Business Tax Equity Study Commission to recommend to the City Commission a classification system and rate structure for business taxes.  At their first meeting the Commission discussed a tentative meeting schedule of Thursday, June 26th, July 10th and July 24th.

TERM OF OFFICE: 
Individuals appointed to this Commission will serve two-year terms in a non-paid capacity. Meeting days and times have not been established for this Commission at this time, but will most likely occur on a weekday evening, 3-4 times per year. Appointments to this Commission are made by the City Commission in accordance with the laws and ordinances of the City.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Equity Study Commission, in its advisory capacity, shall have the following powers and authority to review and make recommendations to the Business Tax Fee including:

1) Advise the City Commission in the establishment of "Home Rule" control for Business Taxes;
2) Revise the current Local Business Tax classifications and make recommendations to the City Commission; and
3) Revise and recommend changes to the current Local Business Tax rate structure.
