CITY OF DELTONA, FLORIDAPARKS & RECREATION YOUTH ADVISORY SUB- COMMITTEEThursday, August 30, 2007A Special Meeting of the Deltona City Parks & Recreation Youth Advisory Sub-Committee was held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 in the 2nd floor Conference Room at City Hall, 2345 Providence Boulevard, Deltona, Florida.1. CALL TO ORDER:Chairperson, Mr. Richard Collazo called the meeting to order at 5:45 pm. Mr. Collazo apologized for missing the previous meeting due to a work commitment.2. SILENT INVOCATION:4. NEW BUSINESS:a. Curfew Discussion – ALLA Special Meeting was called by the members to discuss the Teen Curfew Ordinance pending before the City Commission. The members were not aware of this ordinance and wanted to meet to discuss this specific topic and prepare a response for the Commission Meeting on Tuesday, September 4th. Members were provided with a complete copy of the Curfew ordinance prior to this meeting for review. Ms. Ashley Goodrich was the first member to comment. After having read the full ordinance, Ms. Goodrich was in full support of the Teen curfew. The curfew pertains to children under the age of 16, who should be at home and not out on the streets or in the parks. Ms. Lindsay Sheldon stated she was upset at the previous meeting but now that she has additional information and is aware of the exceptions she agrees with it. Mr. Cody Trenary said he has never left the house after 11:00 pm without his parents’ permission and they knew where he would be. Mr. Kyle Trenary and Mr. Connor Griffis agreed with Mr. Cody Trenary. Mr. Branden Vidal stated he “liked” the curfew ordinance. Director Patti Evans commented that once you informed yourselves you were able to supports the City regarding this important ordinance. Director Evans stated she was “majorly impressed”! Chairperson Richard Collazo stated curfew should help with controlling park vandalism. Ms. Ashley Goodrich made the MOTION that the Youth Advisory Sub-Committee would support the Teen Curfew Ordinance as presented. Ms. Lindsay Sheldon seconded the MOTION. All members were in agreement and the MOTION was unanimously passed. Ms. Ashley Goodrich will attend the September 4th City Commission Meeting and address the Commissioners on behalf of the Youth Sub-Committee. All members were encouraged to attend this meeting to provide support.
The next Regular Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 in the City Hall second floor conference room at 5:30 pm. 5 ADJOURNAMENT: Mr. Branden Vidal made the MOTION to adjourn the Meeting. Ms. Lindsay Sheldon seconded the MOTION. All members were in agreement and the MOTION was unanimously passed.Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:05 pm.
