At its February 4, 2008 Regular Meeting, the Deltona City Commission approved the creation of a Scholarship Selection Committee. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room. The meetings for the month of April are scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each week at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room. The deadline for acceptance is May 9, 2008 and the limit for Scholarship award is $3,000. Please print the forms below, fill them out and return them to the City Clerk's Office or by email at jkent@deltonafl.gov. MEMBERSHIP: The Committee shall consist of seven members with full voting privileges appointed by the City Commission. TERM OF OFFICE: Individuals appointed to this Committee serve three year terms in a non-paid capacity and must be residents of the City of Deltona. The families of Committee members are not eligible to receive scholarships during the time their family member serves on this Committee. OFFICERS: The members of the Board shall elect a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary at the first regular meeting of the Board. They shall serve in those positions for a period of one year. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In late 2007, the City Commission agreed to establish a Scholarship Program to provide financial assistance for college/university related expenses to outstanding Deltona students. The Scholarship Selection Committee will be responsible for reviewing applications from area students and recommending scholarship awards to the City Commission.
