How often do they pick up my garbage?

Each Deltona resident has two pick up days. One day a week is for trash/garbage collection and one day a week is for yard waste collection. You may contact Waste Services of Florida at (386) 574-0778 for your scheduled pick up days or to schedule pick up of a bulk item.

Where do I put my garbage and yard waste to be picked-up ?

Garbage and yard waste should be in a proper container of non-absorbent material, with a closely fitting lid and side ball handles. These containers should be placed no more than 10 feet from the pavement by your driveway.

When can I put my garbage containers out for collection?

Debris and containers can be placed at collection points NO MORE than 12 hours prior to collections and must be removed within 12 hours after collection. However, the container must be at the pavement by 6:00 a.m. on your pick-up day.

How often do they pick up yard waste?

Garbage, recycle and yard waste are each picked up one day per week.  The schedule for each varies depending on your location.  If you are not sure of your route schedule you can contact our collector which is Waste Services, Inc. at (386) 574-0778 or (386) 574-0723. Yard waste material includes grass, leaves, shrub and tree trimmings only. Material must be bagged, bundled or in an easy to handle container and weigh no more than 60 pounds. Large limbs and branches must be tied in bundles weighing no more than 60 pounds, be no longer than four feet in length with limbs no greater than six inches in diameter.

What day do they pick up my garbage, yard waste and recyclable?

I’m doing some remodeling will they pick up my waste?

Waste Services of Florida is not responsible for construction debris or debris from home improvements. You may contact them or another authorized solid waste hauler to provide special collection and disposal.

I’m going to cut down a tree on my property will they haul it away?

Waste Services of Florida is not responsible for land clearing debris. This includes trees cut down or blown down from your property. You may contact them or another solid waste hauler to provide special collection and disposal.

I had to replace my hot water heater will they pick up the old unit?

Yes, but you must call Waste Services at (386) 574-0778 or (386) 574-0723. Large household applicances and furniture are picked up on your normal garbage collection day.

How do I get rid of hazardous waste?

Waste Services does not pick-up hazardous waste, such as batteries, paint, pesticides, etc. Contact the West Volusia Transfer Station, 3151 East Highway 44, at (386) 943-7889 Monday-Friday 7AM-5PM and Saturday 8AM-3PM to determine what they accept.

How do I get rid of tires?

Deltona residents may place up to four (4) typical automobile sized tires by the curb along with their garbage pickup.  There is a maximum collection of eight (8) tires per year.

Why should I rinse jars and cans?

Rinsing helps reduce odor and discourages pests like ants from invading the bin while it’s at the curb.

Need a Recycling Bin?

Contact Waste Services of Florida at (386) 574-0778 or (386) 574-0723 to request a bin. Bins are delivered by the company directly to your home.

Too many recyclables for one bin?

Residents who on occasion have too many recyclable items for one container are asked to put extra items in a brown paper bag or a box next to the recycling bin. Those who require an additional bin due to a consistent high quantity of recyclables should contact Waste Services of Florida at (386) 574-0778 or (386) 574-0723.

Should I wait until the bin is full?

Residents may wish to wait until their bin is at least halfway full before they place it at the curb for pick-up on their scheduled recycling day. It’s okay! There’s no need to carry the container out weekly if you don’t generate that much material.

Why are items left in the bin?

Some items you may believe are recyclable or in fact not. Contact Waste Services at (386) 574-0778 or (386) 574-0723 for an explaination on why items were left in your recycling bin.
