THE CITY OF DELTONA WILL NOT HAVE A "PRIMARY ELECTION" IF THERE ARE NOT MORE THAN TWO (2) CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR MAYOR OR DISTRICTS 1, 3, 4 OR 5.
The City Commission seats have a 4-year term of office. The 2018 election includes the Mayor and Commission Districts 1, 3 and 5 which seats are currently held by Mayor Masiarczyk, Commissioner Honaker (1), Commissioner Herzberg (3), and Commissioner Ramos (5).
Due to the resignation of District 4 Commissioner, Christopher Alcantara, the City Commission will appoint a qualified candidate to that seat on April 30, 2018 at a Special Commission Meeting to be held at City Hall at 5:00 p.m. and the appointment's term will expire November, 2018. Please see the instructions and additional information listed below. Also, those candidates wanting to run for the remainder of the District 4 Commission seat which expires November, 2020 will go through the regularly scheduled election process and will need to qualify during the qualifying period from Noon, June 18th through Noon, June 22nd in order to have their name placed on the November, 2018 ballot.
Candidates are required to submit periodic Campaign Treasurer's Reports throughout the election process to identify all contributions received and expenditures made related to their campaign for elective office per the 2018 Campaign Reporting Schedule. Campaign Treasurer's Reports are done electronically through the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections website.
