In the informational style of a science cafe, Jennifer Mitchell of the St. Johns River Water Management District will lead an exploration of the origins of this valuable resource and the journey it makes as it travels to our homes and yards. Can you even imagine one day without water? How would your day start, or end? Seventy-one percent of the earth's surface is covered by water, but less than one percent of that is drinkable. Here in east central Florida, more than 90 percent of people use groundwater, which comes from an aquifier, as their water supply. This program, which is funded in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is appropriate for adults and teens.
